A colonoscopy is probably one of the most unpleasant experiences in the world, which is why several companies have started developing colonoscopy capsules, with in-built cameras. All you have to do is take a pill - it goes through your system, sends pictures of your insides to your doctor's computer, and then gets passed out through your stool.
4. Anti-smoking vaccine
For years now, researchers have been trying to develop anti-smoking vaccines, but without much success. Recently however, clinical trials of a new vaccine have shown promising results. The vaccine causes your immune system to identify nicotine particles as foreign antigens, so the body blocks them and prevents them from entering the blood stream and subsequently the central nervous system.

If you didn't already think that 3D printers were cool, you will definitely think so now. Pharmaceutical companies have been working with 3D printers to create various human organs, right from kidneys and bones to ears, windpipes and several types of glands. The organs are made with a combination of real and artificial material, and can be made according to the specifications a patient requires!
6. Electric underwear

If your mind is in the gutter, fish it right back out! Electric underwear has been invented for the benefit of bed-ridden patients, to prevent them from developing bed sores, which are often fatal. Cleverly dubbed Smart-E-Pants, the underwear emits a small electrical charge every 10 minutes, stimulating the patient's muscles and blood circulation.

Several people around the world struggle with insomnia, so scientists in Australia have spent over 25 years perfecting a pair of glasses that can help you manage your circadian rhythms. The glasses emit a green light which helps you fall asleep, and they also help correct misaligned body clocks that have been thrown out of whack due to either shift work or jet lag.

Diabetics have to repeatedly draw blood to check their blood glucose levels, but they may not have to anymore. Now, they just have to wear a pair of smart contact lenses that have nanoparticles in them that can automatically check the wearer's blood glucose levels.

AliveCor is a piece of technology that you attach to your smartphone in order to instantly record your own heart rate and ECG. All you have to do is place your fingers on the phone and it will start recording the information. Heart patients can use this to understand what affects their heart rate on a daily basis.
10. Infant warmer

Every year, 20 million babies are born prematurely, out of which 4 million don't survive. 40 percent of these deaths take place in India alone. This happens because the babies cannot maintain their body temperature, and incubators are exorbitantly expensive and require plenty of electricity, which a lot of rural areas don't have. Inventors Jane Chen and Rajan Patel developed a solution to this problem, in the form of an infant warmer blanket that absorbs heat if the baby gets too hot and provides heat if the baby gets too cold, thereby allowing the baby to maintain a constant body temperature of 98 degrees C.
